Hiking trailsFlorence is a charming bed and breakfast in Charron, a small village in the Aiguillon bay, the cradle of mussel culture, north of La Rochelle (15 min), between the island of Ré and the Vendée, on The marsh road that leads to Nantes - La Roche-sur-Yon.
Eco-responsible village, Charron extinguishes its public lights early in the evening and you can observe the stars at the sound of insects, frogs and nocturnal birds. At night, the silence is so intense that even the early risers are sleeping in the morning!
At the Port du Pavé, where the Sèvre Niortaise flows into the bay of l'Aiguillon, you can observe the work of the mussel growers who raise the famous mussels of Charron.
Long bike or foot rides along the Sèvre Niortaise or in the Marais Poitevin await the sportiest.
Finally, the Prée golf course (18 holes) and the equestrian center of Villedoux are nearby.
The rooms are completely renovated and tastefully decorated.
Access to the rooms is via a charming "Île de Ré" patio with garden table, umbrella and chairs for breakfast in the summer weather, reading, writing postcards ...
The bedding is new and of very good quality as well as sheets and towels, 100% cotton, washed with an eco-friendly laundry and dried in the fresh air.
The prices include breakfast with organic or local products and the composition can be chosen according to 2 formulas to suit your preferences / allergies / intolerances:
- formula 1 "classic": bread, Viennese pastries, butter, jam, glass of fruit juice
- formula 2 "alternative": cold or hot milk (without lactose if desired) or plain yoghurt (milk or soya), cereal bowl or muesli, fruit
Coffee, tea, milk or cocoa of your choice - without precision on your part, I will serve you the classic formula.

We highly recommend to stay here and Florence is very welcoming indeed. Spoke very good English and explained all facilities, very helpful directing us to local sights.

A long weekend of very sporty climbing by bike (tour of the nearby Île de Ré) and full of emotions with the victory of Stade Rochelais which we followed in the warm atmosphere of the supporters gathered on the port.

"Excellente adresse à Charron"
Passing through Charron by bike, 4 of us stayed for 1 night at Florence's. The rooms are superbly decorated and comfortable. We appreciated the welcome (even if we were a little early). Florence gave us lots of advice and tips for our bike trip. The breakfast, served at the chosen time, was plentiful and of very good quality. The homemade jams are worth the detour!
