In the pretty market town of Ross-on-Wye, the family-run Bridge House has a large garden overlooking the river. Most rooms have views of the water or the 12th-century ruins of Wilton Castle, just 2 minutes’ walk from the building.
The River Wye is famous for salmon fishing, and guests can enjoy the Wye Valley Walk, which runs through pretty woodland as it follows the course of the river. The Bridge House is also convenient for venturing into Wales, with the border only 20 minutes’ drive away.
A full English breakfast, made using fresh local produce wherever possible, is served in the elegant ground-floor dining room, which offers views across the river.
Rooms at Bridge House are large and individually decorated with Hypnos beds, and some have striking views of the River Wye. Features include free Wi-Fi and a flat-screen TV, as well as tea/coffee making facilities. They are equipped with an en suite bathroom with free toiletries.
