Abbaye de Nieul sur l'Autise

Founded in 1068, Abbey Nieul on Autise is given in the twelfth century the status of Royal Abbey by Eleanor of Aquitaine, then Queen of France. Despite the destruction related to the Wars of Religion, the Abbey is one of the few monastic Poitevin retaining its three elements (church, monastery and convent buildings) almost intact.
