Founded in 1068, Abbey Nieul on Autise is given in the twelfth century the status of Royal Abbey by Eleanor of Aquitaine, then Queen of France. Despite the destruction related to the Wars of Religion, the Abbey is one of the few monastic Poitevin retaining its three elements (church, monastery and convent buildings) almost intact. The Romanesque cloister is the only one in the west of France retained in its entirety. Discovery tour of the monastic life, scenography and music in the dorm and high galleries of the cloister. Opening of the House of Eleanor, a masterpiece of museum on monastic ensembles of the Vendée, with virtual tour of the abbey and fun with the characters in the history of striking Nieul on Autise.
