Founded by the Abbey of Aiguebelle (Drome) in 1863 to establish the heart of the Dombes miles to a pond community, who by his work and his prayer, cheer to a population weakened by the fever swamps. The Community has received, collectively, the Legion d'Honneur and the Croix de Guerre for his contribution to the resistance to Nazism. Since September 2001 the Cistercian monks, become few and old, have entrusted the abbey at the Chemin Neuf Community, which extends this tradition of work and prayer.

The Abbey is also open to people wanting to live a long retirement or recollection individual or group. The quiet places and the life of prayer and community work provides a framework conducive to healing and rest. The abbey church is open to the public during the day, every day except Tuesday.
