The Carnac alignments are located in the town of Carnac in Morbihan in Brittany. This is a site of exceptional megalithic alignments consisting of rows of menhirs, dolmens and covered alleys and distributed over four kilometers. The Carnac megaliths are the most famous and most impressive of the period with nearly 4000 stones.
Since 1991, the site is closed for summer and winter free access to preserve and maintain the site. In fact, free access especially in summer caused many damages of menhirs (falls) and the moor.
The site is managed by the National Monuments.
