Located on the heights of Sainte-Mondane, Fenelon Castle overlooking the valley of the Dordogne. Renowned for its original architecture and its double ramparts, his fame is mainly due to the birth of the Archbishop of Cambrai, François de la Mothe Fenelon of Salignac. Academician, collector of the children of France under Louis XIV, the author of 'Telemachus' was born there in 1651. Built on a series of rock terraces, the castle has kept intact its defense system and its impressive slate roof. The tour reveals the apartments and some furniture and the writer recounts, in particular through the cabinet of curiosities, the kitchen and the armory, the art of living of the Lords in the fifteenth and seventeenth centuries.
