The Haut-Koenigsbourg (Hohkönigsburg in German) is a medieval castle which is located in the French town of Orschwiller in the department of Bas-Rhin in Alsace, at an altitude of 757 meters.
This historical monument now enjoys a strong tourism. The shield of Guillaume II is still visible in the castle. It thus remains a symbol of the presence in Alsace Germany between 1871 and 1918, divided between predominantly credible restoration of the architect and the romantic vision of the Middle Ages of William II.
The castle ruins were closed in 1862, the parties returned to the castle and the national domain in which it operates being protected by an order of ranking since February 11, 1993.
