The museum, established in 1825, houses a rich collection bequeathed by bolts famous Mariette Pinart, Hamy, Lebeau Enlart and supplemented by acquisitions made by the city and the deposits of the state. The tour begins on the first floor with the collection of Egyptian Egyptologist Mariette Boulogne. Is the exceptional collection of Greek ceramics, the first provincial museums in France: 476 Corinthian, Attic, Etruscan, Italic, compiled by Pancoucke, were purchased by the city in 1861. The major collection of this museum is outside Europe. Thanks to the generosity of the explorer Pinart and vision of the scientist E. Hamy, since 1875 the museum has an exceptional collection of works from Alaska and Oceania. Down, visitors will cross the collections of fine art. The history of Boulogne during the Epic is mentioned in the guard room. The tour ends in the basement with the visit of the archaeological crypt giving access to the remains of the walls of Bononia Antiqua. Presented some of the very rich Gallo-Roman collection collected on the site of the Classis Britannica.
