Lac de Haute-Savoie, Annecy lake is known for its cleanliness. This is one of the cleanest lakes in the world. This is the second largest lake in France after Le Bourget, except for the French side of Lake Geneva.
The lake was formed there are about 18 000 years at the time of melting Alpine glaciers. It is fed by several small rivers, born in the mountains (the First, the dead water, the Laudon, Bornet and the biolon), and a powerful source under the Boubioz, which flows at 82 m depth.
It is bordered to the east by the mountains of terminals (the Spinner - 2351 m, the teeth Lanfon, Mount Veyrier and Mount Baron) and on the west by the Bauges (Semnoz and Rock of Oxen ) to the north by the towns of Annecy - Annecy-le-Vieux and south by the valley to Faverges extending the Bout-du-Lac.
The lake discharges its overflow of water in the Thiou and the channel of the Vasse, who meet and feed the Proud, to 1500 m northwest of Annecy, which empties itself into the Rhone. This is a very attractive tourist destination, known for its many water activities.
