En 1770, un pont dit "Pont de Ternos" est édifié sur le Crot de Ternos (fond de 5 m de profondeur), à l'endroit le plus resserré de la Cure. Son architecture en arc surbaissé rappelle les ponts de la Rome antique, d'où le surnom de "pont romain".
De 1872 à 1874, le "Grand Pont" est construit en plein cintre de 30 m d'ouverture, à 35 m au-dessus de la Cure et du "pont de Ternos".
