The museum is housed in an old palace in nature (called "Palace of the red house"), built in 1397 by Pierre Voisin, secretary of Count Amadeus of Savoy. The building is red brick (hence the name) with an Italianate architecture. It has a large porch with pointed arches, the twin bays with pointed arches (lintels), columns and traces of painted plaster on the arches of the porch.
