The Natural History Museum offers a trip to Auxerre in the archives of the life and earth, through extremely rich collections of fossils, minerals, animals, shells ... This heritage has been collected in the eighteenth century under the leadership of Father Francis Xavier de Laire, an emblematic figure of the Yonne, from treasures scattered and weathered, like many others, by the French Revolution. This collection is constantly enriched and is now a benchmark for the international scientific community, which can be found in the museum collections of Paul Bert, Gustave Cotteau ... The centerpiece is a wonderful herbal medicinal eighteenth century produced to the abbey of Saint-Germain.
