The museum was founded in 1908 as a result of the legacy of the lawyer Charles Heath. The collections, which the fund was established by M Puton, is built around three themes: history of the abbey and the chapter of Remiremont, Nordic painting of the seventeenth century and regional art. The main themes of the museum of archeology, decorative arts, fine arts, ethnology and the science of nature.Le visitor can discover the documents on the history of the town, the Nordic paintings of the seventeenth century ( with artists Nicola Waes, Van Troyen, Neyts, Van de Meer, William Porter) and French paintings of the nineteenth century (with the artists Antigna, Adler, Harpignies, Lépine, Ziem). Many drawings, prints and posters, paintings, sculptures are also on display. Visitors can also dwell on the numismatic collections, ethnological (Costume, Furniture, Tools and Trades) and the mineralogical and ornithological collection.
