The Museum of La Roche-sur-Yon was created in the second half of the 19th century, only a few years after the founding of the city by Napoleon I in 1804.
Its collections range address both the fine arts, decorative arts and the archeology. His two areas of interest, however, painting and graphic arts from the 19th century and contemporary photography. Paintings and drawings by Paul Baudry. Collection of drawings and original artwork, and various other productions of Benjamin Rabier. Finally, since 1983, a collection of contemporary art was established, to present diverse aspects of visual photography.
