Au hameau de Clermont, sur la droite un chemin de terre conduit à la Tour de Clermont,
rescapée du château qui dominait et régnait sur la région.
Le passé de Chirens est intimement lié à la famille Clermont-Tonnerre.
Le château était construit avec une triple enceinte et avait un donjon a la particularité peu courante d'être pentagonal irrégulier.
Abandonné et démantelé vers 1626 par ordre royal inspiré par Richelieu,
il appartient toujours aux Clermont-Tonnerre. Il n'en subsiste aujourd'hui que les ruines du donjon.
