Manifeste architectural, la Villa Cavrois est l'oeuvre emblématique de l'architecte Robert Mallet-Stevens, figure du courant moderniste. Elle a été conçue et édifiée pour Paul Cavrois, industriel du textile du Nord, et sa famille. Le programme de ce château moderne commandé en 1929 est clair : "air, lumière, travail, sports, hygiène, confort et économie".
Classé monument historique en 1990 grâce à la mobilisation citoyenne, acquis par l'État en 2001, le gigantesque chantier de restauration mis en oeuvre en 2003 par la DRAC Nord-Pas-de Calais puis repris en 2008 par le Centre des monuments nationaux a été achevé en juin 2015.
